            <title>5th Saturday at Furnishing Options</title>
            <description><![CDATA[<p>July 30th is a fifth Saturday. This means it is Marlborough Junior Woman's Club volunteer day at Furnishing Options! <a href="http://www.furnishingoptions.org">www.furnishingoptions.org</a></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>The store at 66 Mechanic Street in Marlborough is open on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon. Stop by if you&nbsp;can and bring friends or family. Volunteer tasks may include sorting and bagging linens, sorting and stocking home good donations, helping customers and donors move furniture into or out of their vehicles, cleaning furniture, or escorting customers through the store. </p>

            <title>Second Saturday</title>
            <description><![CDATA[<p>Join the Juniors on Saturday July 9th as we help the community. We will join volunteers for Grace Baptist&nbsp;Church's &nbsp;Second Saturday project. Volunteer activities start at 9 a.m. and end by noon at the latest. Projects might include painting, cooking for soup kitchens, cleaning toys or classrooms, moving furniture, hanging curtains, mowing lawns, making cards, knitting, etc. </p>

            <title>Free boating safety classes</title>
            <description><![CDATA[<p>The Massachusetts Environmental Police want to help ensure safe summertime activities by offering free boating safety classes. Boat Massachusetts 2011 will focus on teaching participants about boating equipment, as well as how to operate a boat in a safe and responsible way. The course is available to anyone over 12 years of age and will allow participants to operate a boat legally without adult supervision, and in any state that requires completion of a boating safety course.<br />The courses total 10 to 12 hours of instruction and locations include Hingham, Williamstown, Falmouth, Dennis, and Marion. There are a total of four classes and all must be attended in order to earn the Basic Boating Safety Certificate.             <title>Is your cancer charity using your money wisely?</title>
            <description><![CDATA[<p>Time has a great article on the proliferation of charities purporting to raise money for research to fight cancer, and how too many of them don't use their funds effectively. Make sure you aren't just throwing your money away. To check on a charities visit <a href="http://www.charitynavigator.org">www.charitynavigator.org</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="http://www.guidestar.org">www.guidestar.org</a>. </p>
<p>The article also mentions several well known cancer charities that deliver more research bang for the buck: Mulitple Myeloma Research Foundation, CureSearch for Children's Cancer, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure. </p>

            <title>Fresh Air Fund</title>
            <description><![CDATA[<p>The Fresh Air Fund provides low income&nbsp;inner city children with a summer vacation with volunteer host families in the suburbs. Children who are on their first visits are between 6-12 years old. They stay for up to two weeks. </p>

            <title>Family Night at the library</title>
            <description><![CDATA[<p>Wednesday May 4th 6:30 pm - 8 pm</p>
<p>This evening is being held to celebrate Children’s Book Week and will provide an opportunity for families to find out what the library has to offer to them over the summer and throughout the entire year. This is a free drop in program. No registration is required. The Library will provide tours and talk about their Summer Reading Program and Teen Volunteering Team. Story times will also be held throughout the library with Reading Specialists from the Kane, Richer, Jaworek and Whitcomb Schools. Refreshments will be served.
