The Fresh Air Fund provides low income inner city children with a summer vacation with volunteer host families in the suburbs. Children who are on their first visits are between 6-12 years old. They stay for up to two weeks.

Each May, National Foster Care Month provides an opportunity to shine a light on the experiences of the more than 400,000 children and youth in the foster care system. The campaign raises awareness about the urgent needs of these young people and encourages citizens from every walk of life to get involved – as foster or adoptive parents, volunteers, mentors, employers or in other ways. This evening is being held to celebrate Children’s Book Week and will provide an opportunity for families to find out what the library has to offer to them over the summer and throughout the entire year. This is a free drop in program. No registration is required. The Library will provide tours and talk about their Summer Reading Program and Teen Volunteering Team. Story times will also be held throughout the library with Reading Specialists from the Kane, Richer, Jaworek and Whitcomb Schools. Refreshments will be served. This program is sponsored by the Marlborough Public Schools Title 1 Program.
