In response to the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan, GFWC is accepting donations to assist with relief efforts. Similar to the Haiti Disaster Relief Fund, we will be working with GFWC International Outreach partners to assess relief and development needs over the coming weeks and months.

Earth Hour 2011

At 8:30 PM on Saturday 26th March 2011, lights will switch off around the globe for Earth Hour and people will commit to actions that go beyond the hour. find out more: http://www.earthhour.org/

The Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development announced that the Workforce Central Career Center will partner with the Worcester Sharks on Friday, March 4, 2011 to host a job fair. Employers from across the Commonwealth will gather at Worcester’s DCU Center from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. to meet with hundreds of job seekers looking for their next career opportunity. Admission to the job fair is free and job seekers from across the Commonwealth are welcome.

The Massachusetts Service Alliance (MSA)'s 20th Anniversary Breakfast will take place on Thursday March 24th from 8:30 am to 10:00 a.m. at the Omni Parker House (60 School Street Boston). Service leaders, corporations and non-profit organizations will participate. The Keynote Speaker is Victoria Reggie Kennedy, attorney and advocate.

The MSA is an independent, nonprofit organization that acts as the state commission on service and volunteerism. MSA administers the AmeriCorps program, Commonwealth Corps, and grants for mentoring organizations across the state. MSA supports high quality service and volunteerism opportunities in the Commonwealth for people of all ages, resulting in stronger communities and more active citizens.

Issues that the MSA invests in and advocates for include: AmeriCorps and Commonwealth Corps members, mentors, and volunteers across the Commonwealth tutoring and mentoring children, cleaning up beaches, restoring and maintaining trails, building affordable housing, and providing legal assistance to low-income families.
