Saturday October 2nd is the Marlborough Junior Woman's Club's 6th Annual Trivia Night. Have fun with a team of your friends or come without a team and make new friends as you compete in a fun trivia contest. There will be hor d'ourves, desserts, and a cash bar. Bring a canned food item for the Food Pantry and be entered in a raffle.

This fall, the Massachusetts Nonprofit Network and Associated Grant Makers are once again partnering for the second annual joint statewide nonprofit conference. Nonprofit Innovation: Doing things Differently - Doing Different Things will bring together nonprofit organizations as well as consultants and foundations to bolster their knowledge of effective practices thus strengthening their ability to carry out their mission and work.The event takes place on Monday September 27th in Framingham. Are you intrigued by our work collecting funds to fund a project through Heifer International? How about learning more by taking the family to a fun, educational event at Heifer's Learning Center at Overlook Farm in Rutlan on Sunday, October 3 from 11:00am - 4:00pm?
Explore the homes in the Heifer Global Village to learn about traditional harvest celebrations in Peru, Poland, Kenya and more. Take a horse-drawn hayride to the gardens. Purchase local pumpkins and browse Shop@Heifer that features fair-trade and unique hand-crafted items from around the world. Throughout the day, learn about Heifer International as you meet many of Heifer’s animals including a pair of water buffalo, a yak, llamas and traditional farm animals such as pigs and goats.
Children twelve and under are admitted free; all other attendees are $5.00 per person. The event takes place at Heifer Learning Center at Overlook Farm which is located at 216 Wachusett Street in Rutland, MA. Farm-fresh lunch items and desserts will be available to purchase or guests can bring their own picnic. The event will continue in the event of light rain.

Saturday September 25th is the 6th annual Museum Day, a day when museums all over the country open their doors to the public for no charge with a Museum Day ticket from the Smithsonian website. The 2010 Arthritis Walk will take place Sunday, September 12, 2010, at The Bancroft School in Worcester. Meet fellow Central Mass residents impacted by arthritis, network with families, get your company and co-workers involved and have fun while enjoying great entertainment, activities, food and more! Registration will open at 10:30 a.m. and the walk will kick off at noon. At the Event… Choose from a three-mile or one-mile walk route Make a statement and wear team t-shirts to show your team's pride. Wear a blue “hero” hat if you have arthritis. The Marlborough Junior Woman's Club will be out and about volunteering on Saturday September 11th.
Members will be serving free cocoa to families who support youth soccer, cooking food for the needy and homeless shelters, helping the elderly with chores, making cards and crafts for homebound folks, and more activities at Second Saturday.
Join us at the Ghiloni fields or at the Grace Baptist Church for Second Saturday.

Presented by MA Advocates for Children - Please join us for an informative workshop to help understand the rights and procedures which ensure children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) receive educational opportunities which reflect competency and potential. This workshop will address current legal trends, legal standards, some discussion on court cases, evaluation rights and procedures, and special education service options for children with ASD.

The Marlborough Senior Center loans Durable Medical Equipment to seniors in need. Equipment can include wheelchairs, walkers, shower chairs, commodes, transfer benches, canes, etc.

BayPath Elder Services is the recipient of a grant that will allow them to provide free counseling to caregivers and their families in order to support elders with the goal of increasing their community tenure. Counselors can help families/caregivers work on issues including how to take care of the caregiver's own needs, looking at family dynamics around the care plan or delegating care, working through grief and loss, or setting new boundaries with the care recipient, just as a few examples.

Bill Payer Program - BayPath Elder Services is seeking volunteers for their Money Management Program. Volunteers will be matched with elders to provide support with monthly bill paying activities (balancing checkbooks, organizing and paying bills, and writing checks for the client's signature). This program, sponsored by AARP, Mass Home Care and the Executive Office of Elder Affairs, is designed to help seniors stay in the community, and provides free liability insurance to each volunteer.
