Imagine every home around the world turning off the lights for one hour.
Earth Hour has done a lot to raise awareness of climate change issues. But there’s more to it than switching off lights for one hour once a year. It’s all about giving people a voice on the future of our planet and working together to create a sustainable low carbon future for our planet.
Earth Hour 2010 takes place on Saturday 27 March at 8.30pm (local time) and is a global call to action to every individual, every business and every community throughout the world. It is a call to stand up, to take responsibility, to get involved and lead the way towards a sustainable future. Iconic buildings and landmarks from Europe to Asia to the Americas will stand in darkness. People across the world from all walks of life will turn off their lights and join together in celebration and contemplation of the one thing we all have in common – our planet.
Sign the pledge to turn off your lights for one hour on 3/27 at 8:30 pm and add to the MA supporters (and help turn MA green)! www.myearthhour.org
Paul Revere’s Ride and Marlborough in the Revolutionary War
On the night of April 18, 1775, Revere and dozens of other midnight riders, including men from Marlborough, carried the Lexington alarm into the countryside. But this was no spontaneous uprising of patriots. The local militia were carefully organized, well led, and prepared to defend their towns against General Gage’s Regulars. Presented by Dr. Gary Hylander, who spoke on the Civil War at the Society October 2008 program.
Dr. Hylander is a professor of American History at Stonehill College. He earned his Ph.D at Boston college, where his advisor and dissertation director was noted Boston historian, Thomas H. O'Connor.
Free and open to the public.
