The MetroWest Outreach Connection, Inc. is an all volunteer nonprofit organization that is dedicated to preventing homelessness and to assist those who have lost their housing obtain permanent housing. Last year, this organization gave out $131,000 to 129 families to help them stay out of shelters, most often in $1000 grants to help prevent eviction or to help a family move from a shelter to an apartment. Recipients are referred by groups such as Advocates, Marlborough’s Department of Human Services, and other local agencies. The MetroWest Outreach Connection’s sixth annual walk will be held on Sunday 9/27 starting at 12:30 p.m. The four mile walk from the Framingham Common to the Brophy School and back has been described as family friendly, complete with a high school band and refreshments. No donations are too small. For more information: www.mwoconnection.org or 508-481-2423.
